A Skeleton Bowl from my Bones of the Tree
series
This piece is my entry to the upcoming AAW traveling exhibition
"Spirit of the Southwest" which starts in Albuquerque the last week of June.
Here's my comment for the piece in my submission:
While I created this piece I was reminded of the
painstaking efforts of an archeologist carefully removing the sedimentary
material encasing a fossil.
Our shared goal is to remove only extraneous material
and thus reveal the essence of the partially hidden object. In this case that
object is a pot, perhaps a relic from some early inhabitants of the southwestern
high desert.
I will be attending the annual AAW symposium in June and will
have another skeleton piece in the
EOG auction, as well as a number of pieces on display (and for sale) in the
Instant Gallery of the symposium. I will also bring several small pieces
(of a range of surface treatments) that will not be on display at the symposium
so feel free to contact me if you wish to see any of these pieces.
As always,
email
comments regarding this piece (or any other piece on the site) are welcome.
