Untitled Vessel
Oak, sandblasted and bleached. 4 ½ in. height by 6 in.
length
This piece is of pin oak. It was turned green, creating the dynamic
curves to instill extra "life" into the bowl. The bowl has been
sandblasted, bleached, and then sanded back to enhance the patterns of the grain
and rays. The intent is one of slight ambiguity in terms of the material
(wood vs. say stone?) and the level of organic quality in the piece. A
strong human made statement, but when combined with the distortion from
the wood drying (both the elongation of the piece as well as the lilt from the way
the bowl sits), the overall effect includes a definite and essential organic
quality.
This piece has been sold.
